Over the next few posts we will focus on the install, config, and upgrade of the vRealize Automation components. Starting here we will step through a multi-part series for the complete update for SSO, vCAC, IaaS, App Services, and ITBM Std. Additionally if you would rather have a video than this multi-part walk through guide online I have captured and published it to youtube.

In part 1 we will focus on the upgrade of the SSO and vCAC virtual appliances. The upgrade does require that you are running the 6.0.1 version before upgrade. If for some reason you are still using 6.0 or 5.2 this guide is not for you. I recommend following the official documentation to get your automation components upgraded to 6.0.1.
As always let me start with the warning, DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!! Please power off all of the virtual machines that make up your automation deployment and snapshot before you proceed!!!
Now with that out of the way let’s start the process for SSO
Start by logging into the web management interface in my example I go to https://sso-va.biteback.records:5480
Now go the Update tab – Status – Check for Updates
Once the Available Updates appears click the Install Updates and confirm
This banner will appear until the update is complete, please be patient it will take a fair bit of time
Once this process is complete the “System reboot is required…” will appear
Go to the System tab -> reboot -> reboot
While the SSO appliance is rebooting we will perform the same steps on the vCAC virtual appliance
Start by logging into the web management interface in my example = https://vcac-va.biteback.records:5480
Now go the Update tab – Status – Check for Updates
Once the Available Updates appears click the Install Updates and confirm

We have now completed the process to update the two virtual appliances, in part 2 we will focus on the IaaS server.
